How did I find out that I have one
2008I remember that I was on my 2nd level on High School when my classmates noticed my hoarse voice. That time, it became hard for me to speak to my classmates because I have to repeat what I told them in order for them to understand . There are times that I would make my voice loud that it sound like a man to make it sound clear to them. Years passed by and they got used to it. When I reached 4th year level on High School, my classmates would tease my that I have Adams apple because of the bulk on my neck. I don't mind it since that time, I am not aware of thyroid problems.

As I entered college, I realized that my sister also suffer the same situation. So we decided to go to doctor and get some test. That time, we had a consultation with a physician and was asked to undergo an ultrasound. After the result, we found out that we are suffering hypothyroidism and was medicated with Tapdin 5mg taken three times a day. We took it for about a year and decided to stop taking medications when we notice that it is gone. But because I am studying and was so busy, I don't have time to set an appointment with my doctor to check whether my thyroid is doing fine until I graduated college.

After graduating, I have to take board exam so I decided to consult my doctor since I noticed that my neck is getting bigger again. My doctor medicated me to take Carbimazole 20mg taken 2 times a day. I took it for 6 months until I passed my board exam.

After getting my license, I was hired in a company but they discovered that I have hyperthyroidism. So I have to take medical clearance as a proof that I am fit to work. My company referred me to an endocrinologist and recommended me to take blood test(T3 and T4) and ultrasound. The doctor asked me of what medications I take previously since my blood test results are normal. Through him, I realized that it is not enough that I get consultation with my previous doctor which is a physician because it have to be an endocrinologist to further explain what really is my condition.
He recommended me to take the previous medication I took which is Carbimazole 20mg take 2 times a day and asked me to limit my iodine intake. I also need to go back to him after three to six months to see if I am taking to much or not enough anti-thyroid medicine.
Right now, I have been doing my best to live healthy and limit my iodine intake. I also do my personal research on what to eat and not to eat, and what are the causes of it. I also resigned from my previous company since it is giving me too much stress.
That's it for today, I'll be updating you if there are progress in my thyroid health. 😉
